What is theater?

Lets start discussing.

You go first.

okay here goes.
i think that theatre is a show preformed for an audience. some sort of thought should have gone into creating the show but what form that took is open to interpretation.
now, good theatre should also affect people in some way. it should get them thinking, or make them want to share what they've discovered or make them...do...something. and this is where it gets complicated because something can affect in a very strong, negative sense. so i guess if it affects you in a way that makes you never want to see a play again that probably would be bad. but something can make you mad and still be good theatre. because if you figure out why it makes you mad then you've learned something. so i'm changing my definition. it should affect you in a way that you can learn something. about yourself, about theatre...something.

um. i'm a rambler. but i went first so there. :)

Its storytelling in a way.
That is one thing that i really feel strongly about. You are telling someones story when you are doing theatre.

and when theatre is good the story affects the audience, either making them laugh, cry, mad, or even go off to mikeys demention.

just having them have a feeling towards it in a way.

i hope some of that makes sence
when i first write something its usually very SCATTER BRAINED
